Management Consulting

Management consulting can be a challenging field to navigate and it's not always easy to find the right consultants to help your organisation. Often, consultancies are either too big and focused on their own billing rates, or too small and specialised to offer the services your company really needs.

At Teropan, we will never claim to be experts in areas we are not, or accept assignments we know we are not qualified for. This may sound obvious, but after more than 25 years in the consultancy industry, we've seen and experienced that many consultancies will customise their own ‘expertise’ to match exactly what the client requires.

Our core expertise is in strategic risk management and benefit realisation, especially when using organised intelligence operations to secure a competitive advantage for your company.

Our consultants have extensive experience from large and complex change programmes in both the public and private sectors, and have significant experience from leading consulting firms. Most of our consultants also have experience from intelligence work within military and/or civilian intelligence organisations.

Our goal is always to ensure that our customers acquire the expertise they need to carry out future strategy processes on their own, although we are of course always available even after projects have been formally concluded.

Often, our consultants step into line management roles for a period of time with clients on a management-for-hire basis to ensure that changes and transition periods can be implemented and gains can be realised.

Occasionally, we are also brought in to assist a customer who is purchasing consultancy services. With our extensive experience, we can easily see through empty consultancy wording and also recognise how larger consultancies often try to increase the scope of projects after they have started.

We often don't invoice by the hour, but instead agree with our customers on a set of deliverables and milestones to be delivered and link payment terms to the achievement of these.

This means that the risk is mainly borne by us and not by the customer.

Strategic planning and Intelligence

Our consultants work closely with senior management and board members to define the strategic direction and plans for the company. We ask the uncomfortable questions about why things are done the way they are and we always provide honest and open feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the company's strategic set-up. Working with us can be uncomfortable at times - we're happy to admit it - but it's still more comfortable to be challenged by us than by competitors and changes in the market. Together with the customer, we establish the intelligence process as part of the company's strategic planning cycle and ensure that the company has the right expertise available to deliver strategic results.

We analyse the company's strategic room for maneuver and use organised intelligence techniques and cyber operations to uncover strategic threats and opportunities for our customers at the earliest possible stage.

As part of our services, we offer courses and training programmes in the use of organised intelligence techniques and methods to create a competitive advantage for the company (‘Corporate Intelligence’).

We also work closely with a select few companies that specialise in security and anti-industrial espionage and can help bring in this expertise where it is needed by our customers. Our offering includes Red Team services when required.

Benefits realisation & Risk management

In as many as 80% of all change projects, companies fail to realise the actual benefits that the changes were supposed to provide.

Our consultants have extensive experience of taking on the role of benefit realisation manager and follow up on a daily basis to ensure that the intended benefits are actually realised. There's no hiding the fact that this role is often uncomfortable and difficult, and often the company's own employees are reluctant to take on this role as they know they will face internal resistance to change. Our consultants work without emotional or personal ties to the company and can make the unpopular decisions that often need to be made to realise gains - such as downsizing or changes in roles and tasks.

Through the risk analyses we have prepared in the planning phase, our consultants continuously monitor the risk picture and recommend the implementation of measures when the indicators indicate that the various risk scenarios are about to materialise.  This ensures that the changes to be implemented can be made as quickly and risk-free as possible.

Our consultants always focus on competence transfer to the customer's organisation and in this respect we always work to make ourselves redundant.
